The evening will consist of readings from some of McGonagall's poems, introduced
by Judith Taylor, who hopes to give us some sense of his life, and an open mic session:
a challenge has gone out to compose a poem on a topical theme in the style of McGonagall.

William Topaz McGonagall (1825–1902) wrote about 200 poems, the best
known of which is The Tay Bridge Disaster. His inappropriate rhythms, weak
vocabulary and ill-advised imagery combine to make his work amongst the most unintentionally
amusing dramatic poetry in the English language. Judith Taylor has made a study
of the poet and hopes to present him in a more sympathetic light.
