Animating Air
An evening of poetry, music and the interplay between, with John Mackie and friends
Salmon Bothy, Portsoy [Map]
Admission £5 (concessions £4)
Featuring multimedia artist, poet and songwriter John Mackie, "who performs his
gorgeously hypnotic, meditative verse — at once intellectual and intimate
— as Infinite Equation #2, alongside multi instrumentalist Neil Hankin", and
the often wry and sideways poetry and inventive compositions for unusual instruments
of Haworth Hodgkinson.
Guest musicians will pop in. Bring an instrument and play along!

John Mackie, poet, songwriter and multimedia artist, in a rare local appearance,
performs a selection of verse drawn from over 40 years of writing, including collaborations
with the National Theatre of Scotland, David Bowie, the jazz-funk legends Brian
Auger and Jim Mullen and the modern music composers Cornelius Cardew, Howard Skempton
and David Smith. Fresh from a summer's success with multi-media installations and
readings at the Annuale and Fringe Festivals in Edinburgh, John is looking forward
to presenting a new configuration of his poetry and music ensemble Infinite Equation
#2 at a favourite venue.
