Four of Aberdeen's writers, Cal Wallace, Cath Ferguson, Roddy Hamilton and Catriona Yule who are well-known locally will be sharing some of their latest works with you — hear them read their short stories and novel chapters, guaranteed to leave you wondering what happens next.... This relaxed evening will be hosted by Anything Prose, a new group meeting monthly to share and enjoy all kinds of prose writing. If you are interested in coming along, email anythingprose@hotmail.co.uk. Readers are also welcome to come and take part, even if they've never written a word!

Cal Wallace writes short stories, and is currently attempting a novel. He has been published in Pushing Out the Boat 2, and will also appear in Pushing Out the Boat 5. His short monologue Gully Molly, which appeared in The Lemon Tree programme, is being adapted to film by Dutch film maker Mark van Hugten.

Cath Ferguson

Cath Ferguson is a recent immigrant to Aberdeen (from Edinburgh). She has been writing for around 10 years and has had a few short stories published as well as short plays performed at the Traverse in Edinburgh. She has recently completed a novel.

Roddy Hamilton has been published in magazines, had drama performed on the stage and short stories broadcast on Radio 4. His current interest is realism and he is currently writing a novel concerning the converging fortunes of some art students, a nun, a housebreaker, a Cappuchin monkey and a composer.

Catriona Yule

Catriona Yule's short stories have been published in The Eildon Tree and Pushing Out the Boat. She is currently studying for an Open College of The Arts degree in Creative Writing and has recently had a poem accepted for Markings. She performed at Shetland WordPlay Festival in September 2005.

Helen Elizabeth Ramsey, the founder of Anything Prose, has written mostly poetry in the last couple of years, but is returning her attention to short stories and experimenting with writing for children. She'll read a short piece to warm you up for the main event.
