Sally Evans' workshop consisted of a short talk on the dos and don'ts of reading in public, followed by members' participation in sight-reading and prepared individual readings.

The sight-reading session helped point out the pitfalls of unprepared reading; the members' prepared readings gave Sally the opportunity to make useful comments to each reader.

She stressed that we owe it to prospective audiences to give the best performance we possibly can. An audience comes prepared to listen, and we do them a disservice if we do not speak in a clear and interesting way.

What we learned in this practical workshop, led in an engaging manner by Sally, will prove very useful in future Aberdeen Writers' Circle sessions.
