The Attila the Stockbroker / David Rovics Anglo-American alliance was founded in 2002; their first UK tour together was such a success that they've continued to join forces. On the surface their styles are very different — David's a superficially gentle American singer-songwriter in the tradition of Phil Ochs and Woody Guthrie, Attila a loud, wild, punk rock performance poet/songwriter in the tradition of Hilaire Belloc and Joe Strummer! But their message is the same: their words breathe fire at the bastards who are destroying our world, against the warmongers' axis, against globalisation, fascism and gormless TV consumer ‘celebrity’ culture. The exact opposite of the mainstream idea of an Anglo-American alliance!

Not long ago Damon All Bran of Blur posed the question; where are the protest singers? Here they are! Support on the night comes from local acoustic guitar-picker Fiona Keenan.

Attila the Stockbroker

Attila the Stockbroker: This social surrealist poet and songwriter's topical themes, hard-hitting words, and unashamedly radical politics will make you roar with laughter as well as seethe with anger. Attila has spent the last 28 years performing his work across the world — 23 countries at the last count. He's created his own global network, organises most of his own gigs and is very proud to have earned a living as a poet since 1982.

David Rovics

David Rovics has been called the musical voice of the progressive movement in the US. Since the mid-90s, Rovics has spent most of his time on the road, playing hundreds of shows every year across the world, regularly sharing the stage with the likes of Noam Chomsky and Billy Bragg, among others. More importantly, he's really good. He will make you laugh, he will make you cry, and he will make the revolution irresistible.

Fiona Keenan

Dublin-born Fiona Keenan made Aberdeen her home in 2002, and has been bringing her own brand of radical songwriting to stages across the UK and Ireland ever since, most notably to the Raise Your Banners Festival of Political Song in Bradford in 2007.
