Part of the Performance Poetry strand

An opportunity for beginners and intermediates to create new works playfully using drawing, wordscape and gesture. No need to bring previously created stuff. All welcome over 18 (approx).

John Hegley

John Hegley worked as a bus conductor and a social security clerk until he attended university, after which he set up two children's theatre groups. In 1980 he entered the notoriously tough comedy circuit, getting his first notable exposure in 1984 on John Peel's Popticians.

Hegley is a regular sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival. He has performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival, the USA Comedy Festival in Aspen, with Ulrika Jonsson and Anita Dobson in The Pyjama Game and on BBC Radio 4's Hearing With Hegley.

John Hegley is widely known as one of the country's most innovative comic poets with several best-selling volumes of poetry to his name.
